hi just a question and an offering… first the question, do you know if this project is crystal dependant, as on the schematic you show just the chip rather than the whole board.. the offering is that, I made a stripboard layout of a stripped down arduino, basically it allows the chip to run its program, so you can make lots of permanent arduino projects so you dont have to keep using the proto board, you can find it at http://insonicbloomsfx.livejournal.com/6076.html

Not sure if project is crystal dependent. I have only used Arduino Duemilanove and BBB’s which have the crystal built onto the board. I’m not sure which commands require the crystal for timing, but I’m not doing any special register settings as far as cycles, etc. I’d suggest digging into the LCD library to make sure they aren’t doing anything special in there as well. Of course, there’s always the option of uploading it and giving it a shot! ;) I’ve seen a few perfboard layouts kicking around the internet, just never got around to making them, and this project wasn’t a permanent project anyhow, so it’s been reduced to a gutted enclosure at this point. I’ve been fiddling around lately with DSP and guitar effects options using the Arduino platform, and have decided that if I ever got a decent proto, I’d build it all on to one PCB instead of trying to build a shield. They’re just to big and bulky for guitar effects enclosures. BTW, I noticed you’re into guitar effects builds as well…I’m really interested in your theramin schematic…have you tried building it yet?
